What to expect on your initial visit:

The primary purpose of this practice is to locate and correct vertebral subluxations to keep you at your highest health potential. My procedures are focused towards meeting that objective. After that, my role is as a coach to help reduce the stresses you are under that caused the subluxations in the first place.

The first thing you will be asked to do is fill out our Health History form so I can get a idea of where you are health wise at this moment and how you got there.  After that, we will sit down to get to know each other and discuss how chiropractic may benefit you and whether my care will be consistent with your desires.  When that is done you can choose whether or not you would like to be checked for vertebral subluxations. If you choose not to be, you are free to go without any charge - there is no charge for the initial consultation. If you agree that having your spine checked for vertebral subluxations is a good idea, you spine will be analyzed to see if you have subluxations. Your initial Spinal Evaluation will consist of the following:

Spinal analysis - Using my hands I will feel areas of your spine to see if subluxations are present. The position and motion of the vertebrae, spinal curvatures, and muscle tone are assessed as they relate to possible subluxations.  We may also check posture, range of motion, and do other tests as needed to get the most accurate picture of your health.

Your spinal examination will also include a computerized test using the Insight Millenium Subluxation Station. This is state-of-the-art technology that has two unique spinal scanning features, the Surface Electromyography (SEMG) and Infrared Thermography (IRT). It allows us to objectively measure any nervous system interference. The scans are non-invasive, do not cause pain or irritation, making these tests totally safe for infants, children, pregnant women, or seniors. It simply requires the placement of small probes against the skin.

Surface electromyography scan (SEMG) - The SEMG uses a small electrical signal to graph the nerve and muscle activity which runs the motor system. Specifically, it measures the electrical signal muscles give off when they contract. The more the muscles have contracted around the bones of your spine, the higher the signal. Subluxation will alter the readings.

Thermal scan (IRT) - Thermal scans measures skin temperature at each level of the spine, so we can monitor the autonomic nervous system, which regulates the organs and glands and blood vessels of the body. When a subluxation occurs nerve function is interfered with, and as a result muscles, blood vessels, and organs may malfunction. A person may have disturbances in the autonomic nervous system that is affecting organs and glands and experience no pain at all.

Depending on your case, we may need to order x-rays to determine more exactly what is happening with the structure of your spine, any damage that has occurred to it, and what needs to  be done to correct the structure.

I will take this information - physical exam, scans, and x-rays, and give you my best estimate on what it will take to get you back to health. Most of the time your care will involve a series of regular adjustments and personal recommendations specific to the person.  The amount of time needed for correction depends on factors such as how long the problem has been there, how old you are, the amount of stress you are under, etc. My report is usually given on the second visit.

You may or may not be adjusted on the first visit.
