About Cord Clamping

Mira: Breech at 37 weeks.

“I was almost at my 37 weeks of pregnancy when on one of my check-ups we discovered that our baby was breech. We had been preparing for a natural childbirth, and finding out that the baby was breech, I became very stressed out and nervous.  I felt that all our preparation for the kind of birth we wanted had been for nothing, if the baby stayed breech I’d have to go through a c-section.

I could not enjoy my pregnancy and the baby, all I could think was that the baby was breech and I’d have to have a c-section.

I tried a couple of tricks at home suggested by our doula and childbirth instructor and nothing worked.

After my first adjustment by Dr. Brad I felt the baby turn the same night.  I was so relieved and I felt a huge load taken off my heart.  I felt that I got my birth experience back.”

Comment: After her baby shifted, Mira wanted to discontinue care, even though we had not corrected her pelvic distortion.  Four days later the baby had turned breech again, and Mira came back for 8 more visits.  The baby turned and stayed that way and Mira was able to have the birth that she wanted. It’s important to note that chiropractic care is not medical care and it requires a different mindset.  In Mira’s case, the problem was not that her baby was breech; it was that she had pelvic distortion causing torsion on her uterus that prevented the baby from getting into the best position.  Removing the cause of a problem is what chiropractic is all about.  In Mira’s case, even if the baby had turned on his own, the pelvic distortion and uterine torsion likely would have made for a very difficult birth.    Luckily, that was avoided.

Bobby Brown:

”I started coming to see Dr. Miller after I learned that my baby was in a transverse position.  We had been attending a Bradley Method birthing class and learned about the benefits of chiropractic adjustments during pregnancy.

We were concerned that the baby would have trouble positioning himself into a head down position resulting in a turning of the baby by a doctor or ultimately a caesarean section.

Immediately after my first adjustment the baby began shifting.  It had been apparent that my stomach was wide full with the baby from side to side, but after a week or so my stomach began to stick out instead of being wide!  Movement began changing for the baby, and he began to become more active.

I would recommend getting involved with a chiropractic program as early as you see necessary to aid your pregnancy and help your baby find a good position for a good birth.”

Comment: Bobbie had a normal vaginal delivery without interventions.

Christina:

“Chiropractic has cleared up any questions about what is going on with my baby.  Eliminating lower back pain and neck pain has cleared my mind to feel what is going on with my baby.  Without those aches and pains I feel more confident about what is going on with my body.  As a first time mom this gives me tremendous peace of mind.”
